Four Types of Human Beings: Passion-Based, Task-Based, Responsibility-Based and Visionary

Human personality is a multi-faceted and complex, with individuals possessing a unique blend of qualities, characteristics, and traits that shape their thoughts, behaviors, and actions. Four distinct levels of personality have been identified – personal passion-based, task-based, responsibility-based, and visionary – each characterized by a different set of traits and tendencies. The following article is written based on Melanesian wisdom on human beings as well as the speech by an Indonesian philanthropy Sri Prof. Dr. Tahir.

1. Personal passion-based personality:

Individuals with a personal passion-based personality are driven by their deep-seated interests, values, and desires. They are passionate and enthusiastic about the things that matter most to them, whether it be music, art, sports, or a cause they deeply care about. These individuals are often creative, expressive, and attuned to their emotions, allowing them to connect with others on a deep and personal level. They are driven by their inner passions, pursuing their interests with unwavering determination and commitment.

For example, a musician who spends countless hours practicing and perfecting their craft, or an activist who tirelessly advocates for social justice issues, exemplifies a personal passion-based personality. These individuals are fueled by their love for their chosen pursuits, dedicating their time and energy to cultivating their skills and making a positive impact in their respective fields.

They are detail-oriented, methodical, and meticulous in their approach to tasks and projects, prioritizing structure and order in their daily lives. They cary out tasks and responsibilities at various levels and not only within the family/ clan, but they will go carry out their tasks and responsibilities beyond their limits. There is no like or dislike, there is responsibility to fulfill, and that responsibility is a role and function to play in this life, in relation to others.

4. Visionary personality:

Individuals with a visionary personality are known for their creativity, innovation, and ability to think outside the box. They are forward-thinking, imaginative, and visionary in their approach to problem-solving and decision-making, seeking to create positive change and transformation in their lives and in the world around them. These individuals are driven by a sense of purpose and a desire to make a lasting impact through their ideas and initiatives.

For example, an entrepreneur who launches a revolutionary new product or service, or a social activist who spearheads a movement for change and progress, embodies a visionary personality. These individuals are known for their bold and innovative ideas, challenging the status quo and pushing boundaries to bring about positive and meaningful transformation.

In Melanesian context, this is the matured personality. This type of elders are the ones that spend most of their time in Spirit-House/ Haus Tambaran/ Nakamal/ Kunume/ Belamu/ Pilamo/ Nasara, or Stories house or Fire House, where elders sit and mostly to tell stories. In modern theory, it can be called as “higher education house”, where the topics and discuasions happen inside the house are mortly about the past, and give lights to future actions. There is almost nothing mentioned about things that are happening right now in the community of inside the house. They are not busy about these. Their stories require “interpreters”. That is why in Melanesia we have elders who can carry out the messages, that sometimes called “Ation Man”, to make the stories reality in real-life.

When visionary elders are outside, they become very quiet, almost have no response or reactions to anything they hear or see. They just move as blank body, they perceive everything beyond what or who they are. We might tell them stories about global warming, climate change, environmental destruction, human rights violations, car accidents yesterday nearby house, American General Election results , wars engaged by Israel and Russia, but they will not express any feelings, nor reactions, nor comments. But when you asked them, “Is war good for human life?” then they will answer very quickly.
